Privacy Policy
Your username, chat/other communications, logged-in status, and
arbitrary data of your account may be visible to the public by using
Poikilos' online services. This is likely to be seen by moderators and
other Center of the Sun team members, who must also agree to the
the privacy policy (continued below) in order to begin or continue their
roles. Moderators include but are not limited to users with the
"basic_privs" or priveleges which override protected areas of the
game world, or any system priveleges which allow modifying user
accounts.
A best effort will be made to prevent any additional information beyond
the above, including but not limited to information below, from being
divulged to 3rd parties. 3rd parties do not include moderators and other
Center of the Sun team members.
Your IP address, username, usage, and any other information may be
logged for security, in-game moderation, research purposes, or other
internal purposes such as legal protection in a dispute.
Terms of Use
The Terms of Use include server use. This includes any use of any
services hosted on minetest.io or other domains administrated by
Jake Gustafson (this defines Poikilos' online services) and software (as
defined in the Software License section below).
Server Use
You may not share your password with another individual or group.
Free speech and private property should be taken in to consideration.
However, The administrator owns or is responsible for primary hardware,
utilities, and administration time, regardless of donations of time,
money, or gifts directly or indirectly contributing to those purposes.
Jake Gustafson (elsewhere called Poikilos or the administrator--also
the primary moderator) and other team members reserve the right to add
or remove any content, code, services, or user priveleges for any reason
without notice.
The moderators will make a best effort to monitor and remove content
from public or user(s) that is in violation of the Terms of Use or of
applicable law, but the content may be kept as evidence. Coercing
someone (such as using harrassment or threats) into any behavior
including speech, sexual or not, is not allowed. Moderators must make a
best effort to recognize and file a report with law enforcement
regarding any activity determined to violate applicable law including
but not limited to sexual, discriminatory, or threatening
behaviors, if the behaviors including speech are in violation of
applicable law. Victimhood is
not granted to every person who makes an allegation. If there is no a
purponderance of evidence (no credible witnesses and no
digital records) to confirm allegations then the behavior is impossible
to confirm and therefore out of the scope of moderator responsibility.
Behaviors that interfere with gameplay but are not in violation of
applicable law nor against the Terms of Use are out of the scope of
moderator responsibility.
Moderators agree to report allegations regarding areas which they are
responsible as defined above and provide all applicable evidence to the
administrator, and to not spread identifying information regarding the
confirmable victim to anyone not required to respond if the confirmable
victim specifies that they wish to keep the personally identifiable
information private. Applicable laws override all server policies and
terms where they contradict, though contradicting applicable law is
neither intended nor known. However, the scope of user-create content
that may occur as a result of the availability of services means there
is likely to be too much content for the few (sometimes one)
moderator(s) to manage. Moderators may voluntarily make a best effort
where they deem appropriate to report and/or moderate behaviors that if
happened would be in violation of applicable law or interfere with
gameplay.
Users should
expect freedom of speech to outweigh moderation for the reasons of
limited moderation availability, belief in the U.S.
Constitution, and services being free of charge and
available to the public. Users are responsible for the content they
create, and retain the copyright to that user-submitted content (speech
and creative works) unless they disclaim copyright, but by submitting
content you grant an irrevocable license to Poikilos' online services
to distribute the content, potentially along with any identifying
information you provide, for any reason including but not limited to
allowing other users to see content of the world or a history of the use
of Poikilos' online services. If you are an confirmable victim, you must
opt out of having your personally identifiable information shared with
others other than those required to know it--you must specify that you
opt out along with your report in order to ensure that moderators can
comply. In addition, you can only retain copyright if you are the
original author, and no other form of recision (removing other forms of
information you submitted other than personally identifiable information
in the case of a confirmable victim who wants their name rescinded
from reports to targets defined above) is granted. Poikilos's online
services are free of charge and available to the public except where
otherwise specified.
Cheating and Griefing
Cheating (exploiting the game such as avoiding
the effects of night, blindness, visual obstacles) lead to an immature
pointless game of getting more blocks than anyone else. What you can do
is make a cool mine with cool lighting, or make an awesome railway that
you and other players can ride (remember to protect it).
Griefing
Griefing is the act of destroying parts of the world or otherwise
infringing on the gameplay of other players by using the environment
as opposed to direct interaction. It is called griefing because it
causes other players "grief." This can be a subjective term, and
emotions cannot be used to define rules. How a user feels about what
is said to them or about what happens in a game is ultimately the
user's own responsibility. Also, certain forms of griefing are
considered normal when PvP is enabled. However, there are certain forms
of griefing that are not considered normal parts of PvP (player vs
player) combat and are not allowed on Poikilos' services.
Disallowed griefing is when...
- ...PvP is turned off.
- ...the target of griefing is part of the environment that affects
players that are not involved in a PvP battle with the griefer.
- ...the griefing prevents a player from using a protected area or
protected node (block, chest, or any other node) where they are the
owner or are allowed.
- ...the normal game or minigame rules are broken through exploitation
(hacking, or circumventing intended use).
- ...a user reports camping (waiting at player's respawn or
teleport locations and killing them repeatedly) or ganking (gang
killing of a player who does not have allies who can help) and a
moderator deems the behavior to be excessive.
Moderators may implement some form of banning or reduced priveleges
without notice on a user who either directly in violation of terms or
law or even just continues doing anything about which a moderator has
warned them. However, due to limited
time and numbers, moderators cannot be expected to provide reprocussions
or repair for further types of griefing, nor even every instance of
violations.
